Tired Of Qwerty? Maybe You Can Make A Leap Of Faith With 2i™

By David Ponce
Well, you have to watch the below video to understand why we’re so perplexed by Snapkey’s 2i™ technology. It’s a new typing interface that is designed to replace the old and allegedly cumbersome QWERTY you know and love. Sure, a case could be made that using a full keyboard on a tiny mobile device is inane, as it takes up more of the very little room that is available. But the 2i™ solution seems to propose an imaginary keyboard… no, an invisible keyboard with 4 (again, invisible) keys on either side of the screen. Let’s say that again: a total of 8 invisible keys. Yeah, we gather there’s a learning curve involved… But our old brains can’t quite wrap themselves around the principle; you are meant to access the entire 26 letter alphabet with a combination of 8 invisible keys? From the video it looks like a combination Minority Report and good old T9… on speed.
Is this where young people start laughing at the older folk not getting it? We don’t know. Now, all this is old news. The new news is that 2i™ will be demoed at CES, so we plan on giving Snapkey’s booth a little visit and get to the bottom of things. But if the video is any indication, easier and more efficient mobile typing could be just around the corner. 2i™ will soon be available on Android and the Apple App Store.
